Our philosophy:
We want to you have music in your life, therefore, we offer a holistic approach. Each lesson is catered to you. We have music milestones that you will be encouraged to achieve in your first three months. That includes performing. You should enjoy your lesson, instructor, and instrument.
Instrument: We all think we want to play guitar but it may not be the right fit. If you feel that maybe it’s, tell us so we can adapt your lessons. Be open to trying a different approach/instructor or instrument. The guitar can be hard on your fingers. It’s okay to switch to piano or ukulele.
Instructor: You or we picked an instructor based on your schedule, interest, and approach. If it’s the right fit, speak up. We understand and so do our instructors. You may not be a good fit for them either.
Practice? What is that? We prefer to say “PLAY”. That’s right. We want you to play your instrument every day so you can progress and hit the milestones and goals outlined in your first lesson. Practice tips can be found on our website and social media sites. Two top tips: Place your instrument in a prominent place where you will see it. Also, take it out of the case. Parents, this one is for you. READ IT. If you want your child to practice, avoid the word practice altogether. We suggest this phrase to encourage practice “Will you please mommy/daddy a song? I had a hard day and music always calms me. I would love to hear you play the (piano, guitar, or favorite song).” “That was beautiful, do you have another song or two you can play while I make dinner or fold laundry”. Another way to get your child to practice/play is for you to do it too. Do you have a book you want to complete? or something that needs attention or practice? Join your child by setting an example or leading by example.
Music should be fun. Remember that. Music is also a form of therapy and is great for the mind. Music is also a creative outlet that promotes happiness and a healthy mindset. Music is an experience that should be fun, enjoyed by others, and part of your life forever. Don’t overthink or complicate it.
