Studied with: Classical Jazz Dr. Harold Reynolds Kai Winding Jiggs Whigham Donald Knaub Al Grey Dr. David Atwater Rob McConnell Charlie Dana Ashley Alexander David DeWitt taught in the city schools of Rochester and Buffalo, NY for 35 years. Last 17 years, he was the lead Band Director at the Buffalo Academy for the Visual and Performing Arts. He directed the top Wind Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble & Jazz Combo. He taught Brass lessons, Music Theory, and senior-level Music History. David`s Jazz Ensemble was the first Buffalo Area High School Jazz Ensemble to appear at the Rochester International Jazz Festival three years in a row. David was also the Adjunct Jazz Ensemble Director at Canisus College in Buffalo NY Upon retiring in 2016 and moving to Sarasota, David has become a very in-demand Trombone/Tuba player. Playing with many top ensembles on the Gulf Coast. David is very excited to be directing the Gulf Coast New Horizon`s Band and watching it grow
