SARASOTA/BRADENTON, FL – Music Compound is committed to educating all year long, including when school is out for the summer or winter break. To give area students the opportunity to enjoy music instruction while they are on summer break, Music Compound is again offering its summer camp, which runs from June 5 through August 4, at both of its locations in Sarasota (1751 Cattlemen Rd., Sarasota) and Manatee (4740 SR64 E., Bradenton) counties. This is the first year that Music Compound will offer full summer programming at its Manatee location.
Students in grades 1-12 are welcome. Families can choose from full (9 a.m.-4 p.m.) or half-day (9 a.m.-noon OR 1-4 p.m.) options. Some of the sessions offered for grades 1-5 include “Intro to Music,” “Kidz Rock,” “Key to Piano,” Musical Theatre,” “Drum Circle” and “Strings and Things.” For students in grades 6-12, the sessions include “Modern Band,” “Improvisation on Keys,” “Drum Fills & Solos,” “DJ & Music Production,” “Jazz Band,” “Classic Rock Band,” “Modern Garage Band” and “All Girls Pop Rock Band.”
This year features new offerings geared toward more advanced players in the older camp, including “Songwriting” and “Performance Master Class,” to help bolster performance, vocals and stage presence for more serious performers. The 6-12th grade camp also presents band opportunities in several musical genres.
Not all of the grade 6-12 camps are available at the Manatee location; interested families are encouraged to learn more at musiccompound.com/camps.
“Our Summer Music Camp is the perfect offering for kids who want to explore new music or get better in their favorite instrument,” said Music Compound owner Jenny Townsend. “Whether a student is new to music or has years of experience, there is an opportunity for everyone to learn, have fun, and find and feed their inner musician.”
Cost for the camp is $350/week for full days, $175/week for the half-day option; there is a $30 registration fee for all new campers. Early drop-off is available at 8 a.m. for $25/week and late pick-up is available at 5 p.m. for $25/week. For additional information, call 941-379-9100.
